Martin Mulligan – Architect Director
Martin is a chartered Architect with over 25 years of design and construction experience across residential, education and commercial sectors in Europe, Ireland and the United Kingdom. He has particular expertise in taking projects from feasibility, design development through tender to completion, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities from an architectural and multi-disciplinary perspective.
He has a strong in depth knowledge of the Irish and UK Planning and Building Regulations, Passive Haus, Super E, LEED and UK CfSH, long term research and development of 'off site' construction techniques as well as in in the low energy and sustainability sector applying both Passive House, Super E and equivalent national performance standards.
He is the Principal Architect, Low Energy + Passive Architects since Feb 2015 across offices in London | Manchester | Kilkenny for the last 8 years. L E + Passive is an Architectural and Project Management practice focusing on the application of sustainable and environmental design in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
His practice provides a full range of multidisciplinary services across a diverse range of projects. They apply a philosophy to interpret client briefs fully, creating sustainable and aesthetically pleasing buildings which respect their environment and reduce energy usage.
Martin was Senior Architect at ZEDfactory in 2014 in London with Bill Dunster and Zedfactory on a number of innovative Low & Zero-Energy projects. In October 2002 to 2010 he was Director | Senior Architect of Martin Mulligan & Associates Architects in Kilkenny, Ireland and was Director and Senior Architect of MMAA. Completed a wide range of residential, commercial, medical-dental projects across Ireland and the United Kingdom.
From Liverpool John Moores University he received BA.Arch. Dip Arch.Architecture in 1976 – 1982. He is currently a member of the RIAI, RIBA, ARB. Previously OAL and OAF [ Ordre des Architectes Luxembourg, France], Tutor/Lecturer in 'Green Building' technologies, Greenworks.
Sustainable Building- Dachverband Lehm, Biberach, Germany. In St Andrew's College, Dublin he around sustainability and Green architecture he co-founded Susliving, a charitable organisation registered in Ireland, established to introduce sustainable and low carbon living to primary and secondary school children through hands on practical workshops. Susliving has expanded its focus beyond the educational sectors and now provides workshops and training to both community and commercial organisations. Plans are being developed to expand the programme from Ireland to the UK in 2015. He has Licenses & Certifications in BA. Arch Dip. Arch.
